Agreements on and off the water.
What you can expect from Rowing Buddy, and what we ask of you. Short and in plain language.
Who we are
Rowing Buddy is this website and the app My Rowing Buddy (at my.rowingbuddy.nl and in the apps for iPhone and Android). Rowing Buddy is a product of Van Rijckevorsel Webdesign, Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) 42027446. Questions? Email info@vanrijckevorselwebdesign.nl.
Your account
- From 16 years. You can create an account yourself if you are 16 or older. If you are younger, you can only join through a personal invite from your crew and with permission from a parent or guardian. Starting a crew or joining with a crew code is possible from 16.
- One account per person. Use your own name and an email address that is yours.
- Keep your password to yourself. If you notice someone else can get into your account, choose a new password right away and let us know.
- You can stop at any time. You delete your account yourself in the app, under Profile. Your data is then removed as described in the privacy policy.
Training safely
Rowing Buddy gives general plans, zones and estimates. It is not medical advice and it does not replace a coach, doctor or sports dietitian.
- Train at your own level and stop if something hurts. If you have doubts about your health, talk to your doctor first.
- The nutrition targets are estimates, not prescriptions. The app never helps you eat too little.
- You are responsible for how you train, also when you follow a plan from the app or your crew.
Your crew
In a crew you see each other's place on the course, tests, records and results. Exactly what, and what an admin and a coach see, is in the privacy policy. A crew's admin invites members and can deactivate them. Be decent to each other: no offensive names or trainings, and don't share someone else's data outside the app.
- Starting a crew yourself. From 16 you can start a crew yourself. You are then its admin.
- Roles. Everyone in a crew is a rower, cox or coach. An admin can change roles and make someone else an admin too. There is always at least one admin.
- Joining. You get into a crew with a personal invite, or you ask with the crew code. The code only gives the right to ask: the admin decides.
- If you are an admin. You are responsible for who you let in. Only admit people you know and who belong to your crew; before admission you only see a name, so if in doubt check first or refuse. Only share the crew code with your own crew, for example in the boathouse or the crew's group chat, and don't put it online in public. If the code ends up where it doesn't belong, replace it or switch it off. Only use the email addresses in the member list for the crew.
- Boats and line-ups. The admin and the coach make the boats and the line-ups. Who sees which line-up is in the privacy policy.
- When the last admin stops. If the last admin deletes their account, the coach who has been in the crew longest becomes admin, otherwise the rower who has been in it longest, otherwise the cox.
Free and premium
- The strength plan, the erg work and training with your crew are free.
- Premium adds extra parts, such as nutrition, the extra exercises and connecting meters. What is included is shown in the app before you buy anything.
- You buy premium in the app through the App Store or Google Play. Payment, renewal and cancellation go through your Apple or Google account, under their terms.
- Everyone starts with the free version. An invite from your crew does not include premium.
What you can expect from us
We do our best to keep the app working well and safely and to protect your data. Still, things can go wrong: an outage, maintenance or a bug. We cannot promise the app is always available or that every calculation is right for you. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for damage from using the app, except in case of intent or gross negligence.
Misuse
Don't use Rowing Buddy to harass others, to disrupt the app or to reach data that isn't yours. If that happens, we can deactivate your account. We will tell you why. The same goes for a crew, for example one with an offensive crew name: we can switch it off.
When the terms change
If we change these terms, the app asks you to read the new version and agree before you can continue. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
Law
These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you have a complaint, email us first and we will look for a solution together.
